Campaign Structure
Before optimization, campaigns contained mixed product categories with little segmentation, budgets were shared between high-performing and low-performing products, and there was limited control over bidding by product category. The account was redesigned around product categories and business objectives, including Performance Max, Standard Shopping, Brand Search, Non-Brand Search, Dynamic Search Ads, Clearance Campaigns, Seasonal Promotions and Dynamic Remarketing.
Merchant Center
Product titles were not fully optimized for search intent, product taxonomy and attributes required improvement, feed quality reduced Shopping visibility, and high-margin products lacked prioritization. Improvements included SEO-optimized product titles, rich product descriptions, product type restructuring, Google Product Category optimization, GTIN validation, brand consistency, custom labels, image optimization and Merchant Center diagnostics cleanup.
Google Shopping
Best-selling products competed against low-demand products, impression share was below potential, seasonal inventory was not segmented, and optimization for accessories and higher-margin products was limited. Shopping campaigns were segmented into high-value categories including Acoustic Guitars, Electric Guitars, Bass Guitars, Keyboards & Pianos, Drums & Percussion, Band & Orchestra, Recording Equipment, DJ Equipment and Accessories.
Performance Max
Generic asset groups with broad targeting, limited audience signals, few creative variations and minimal asset testing were replaced with continuous optimization using audience signals, Customer Match, asset group segmentation, creative testing, search term insights, product group optimization, seasonal asset refreshes and budget reallocation.
Search Campaigns
Limited coverage for non-brand keywords, mixed branded and generic searches and missing long-tail searches for musical instruments and accessories were expanded into dedicated Search campaigns targeting acoustic guitar, electric guitar, guitar accessories, piano keyboard, digital piano, drum set, studio microphone, DJ controller, audio interface and musical instrument store.
Dynamic Remarketing
Basic audience targeting was expanded into remarketing campaigns targeting product viewers, cart abandoners, previous customers, high-value buyers, seasonal shoppers and cross-sell audiences, helping recover lost sales and increase repeat purchases.
Conversion Tracking
Standard purchase tracking with no Enhanced Conversions, limited first-party audience collection and incomplete attribution data was upgraded with Google Ads purchase tracking, GA4 integration, Enhanced Conversions, revenue tracking, first-party audience collection and customer journey analysis.
Continuous Optimization
The account was actively managed every week through search term analysis, negative keyword expansion, bid adjustments, budget optimization, Merchant Center monitoring, feed optimization, audience refinement, geographic optimization, device performance analysis, landing page reviews, creative testing and seasonal promotion planning.
Final Outcome
The Google Ads transformation enabled Irvine Art & Music to turn its online retail store into a more efficient revenue channel. By restructuring campaigns, optimizing Merchant Center feeds, improving Shopping performance, and expanding high-intent Search campaigns, the business achieved stronger visibility for its products while reducing inefficient spend.
Over the reporting period, Google Ads generated $266,000 in tracked conversion value from $33,500 in advertising spend, resulting in 1,150+ purchases and an exceptional 7.95x Return on Ad Spend (794.96%). The optimized account also improved budget allocation toward best-selling categories, increased qualified traffic, and strengthened customer acquisition through Performance Max and Shopping campaigns.
