Campaign Structure
Before optimization, campaigns were broadly organized with limited segmentation, best-selling and lower-performing products competed for the same budgets, performance reporting lacked product-level visibility, and budget allocation was not based on profitability. The account was rebuilt to improve scalability, reporting accuracy and budget control, segmented by product category, best sellers, campaign objective and customer intent, including Performance Max, Standard Shopping, Brand Search, Non-Brand Search, Dynamic Search Ads, Best Seller Campaigns, Promotional Campaigns and Dynamic Remarketing.
Merchant Center
The account started with product titles not fully optimized for search intent, product descriptions lacking high-value commercial keywords, limited custom labels for best sellers and promotional products, and feed optimization opportunities reducing Shopping performance. Improvements included SEO-optimized product titles, improved product descriptions, product category restructuring, brand consistency, GTIN validation, custom labels, product image improvements and Merchant Center diagnostics cleanup.
Google Shopping
Shopping campaigns lacked strategic segmentation, best-selling products did not receive maximum exposure, optimization for promotional periods was limited, and product groups contained mixed-margin inventory. Shopping campaigns were segmented into strategic collections including Tote Bags, Lunch Backpacks, Laptop Bags, Travel Bags, Best Sellers, Limited Editions, Accessories and Promotional Products.
Performance Max
Generic asset groups, broad audience signals, limited creative testing and weak customer segmentation were replaced with continuous optimization using audience signals, Customer Match, asset group segmentation, creative testing, search term insights, product group optimization, budget reallocation and promotional asset updates.
Search Campaigns
Limited non-brand keyword coverage, missing long-tail purchase keywords, combined generic and branded traffic and limited campaign segmentation by product category were expanded into dedicated Search campaigns targeting laptop tote bag, lunch tote, work backpack, women's work bag, insulated lunch bag, travel tote, everyday backpack, office tote bag, laptop backpack and multifunction work bag.
Dynamic Remarketing
Basic audience targeting was expanded into high-value audiences including product viewers, cart abandoners, previous customers, high-value buyers, best seller viewers and promotional campaign audiences, significantly improving repeat purchases and customer lifetime value.
Conversion Tracking
Standard purchase tracking with missing Enhanced Conversions, limited first-party audience collection and incomplete attribution reporting was upgraded with Google Ads purchase tracking, GA4 integration, Enhanced Conversions, revenue tracking, first-party audience collection and customer journey analysis, allowing Google's Smart Bidding algorithms to optimize more effectively.
Continuous Optimization
The account was actively managed every week through search term analysis, negative keyword expansion, bid strategy optimization, budget reallocation, Merchant Center diagnostics, product feed optimization, audience refinement, geographic optimization, device performance analysis, landing page optimization, creative testing and promotional campaign planning.
Final Outcome
The Google Ads transformation enabled Packuum Bags to build a scalable international customer acquisition engine capable of supporting rapid eCommerce growth. By restructuring campaigns, improving Merchant Center data, optimizing Shopping visibility, expanding Search coverage, and refining Performance Max campaigns, the business significantly increased qualified traffic and online sales while maintaining profitability.
Over the reporting period, Google Ads generated £1.09 million in tracked conversion value from £300,000 in advertising spend, resulting in 13,400+ purchases and a 3.64x Return on Ad Spend (364%).
